Lush Mask of Magnaminty

I'm not fond of putting pictures up on any social media of my bare face. Yes I do love my bare face, it's just my dark under eye circles that I am not really friends with, lol.
What prompted me to put this picture up was this Mask of Magnaminty from Lush Cosmetics. It's amazing!

A dear cousin gifted me this 4.4 oz jar of awesome (which retails for $12.95), but I didn't think I would love it as much as I do. As soon as you open the jar, an invigorating burst of Peppermint hits the senses. The crushed Aduki Beans are a bit chunky upon application, but that doesn't bother me. As soon as the actual green product hits the skin, you feel the mint kick into gear. My face felt like it was awakened and given its own source of oxygen, if that makes sense. I wore it for the max time recommended of 10 minutes, and removed it with a washcloth and warm water. Once I took it off, my skin felt so renewed and soft. I definitely plan on getting the full size Mask of Magnaminty (which is 11.1 oz for $24.95)!

The Mask of Magnaminty is one of Lush's Self Preserving Masks, which means it does Not need to be refrigerated. According to Lush, it has a shelf life of up to 4 months. This mask is a Multi-Purpose mask that is meant to "Use anywhere to fight breakouts with these gentle but effective ingredients." It's available at all Lush locations and Lush.com!

Ingredients: Honey, Kaolin, Bentone Gel, Talc, Ground Aduki Beans (Phaseolus Angularis), Glycerine, Evening Primrose Seeds (Oenothera Biennis), Peppermint Oil (Mentha Piperita), African Marigold Oil (Tagetes Erecta), Fair Trade Vanilla Absolute (Vanilla Planifolia), *Limonene, Fragrance, Chlorophyllin. *Occurs naturally in essential oils.

Thanks so much for checking out today's quick post on this amazing mask! Let me know if you have tried this product or Any of Lush's products! Have any recommendations? Urban Decay Naked Basics 2

Urban Decay's Naked Basics 2 was recently added to the Naked Collection (August 2014),
so I figured I'd show a comparison to my fellow make-up lovers. I hope this helps you decide
if you need this in your collection or not. Both of these go for $29 (USD) and are available on
Urban DecayUltaSephora, and wherever Urban Decay products are sold.

The packaging is the same in size and weight, however the finish of both the lettering and actual packaging are different. The Naked Basics has a rubberized matte finish (think Nars packaging), while the Basics 2 has a soft plastic finish. They are slightly different in the color of the packaging as well. There are 6 shades in each palette, and each shade has 1.3g/ .05 oz of product.

Urban Decay Naked Basics

The Urban Decay Naked Basics palette is mostly a warm palette, with the exception of WOS and Naked 2.

Shades in this palette (from Left to Right) :

-Venus (soft off-white demi-matte)
-Foxy (cream bisque matte)
-WOS (very light nude matte)
-Naked 2 (taupe matte)
-Faint (warm dusty brown matte)
-Crave (deepest darkest brown/black matte)

Urban Decay Naked Basics 2

The Naked Basics 2 is a Taupe based palette and has much better pigmentation and a better
texture than the original basics palette, IMO. It has 5 new shades, with the exception of Skimp.

Shades in this palette (from Left to Right) :

-Skimp (pale nude satin)
-Stark (nude-pink matte)
-Frisk (warm grey matte)
-Cover (muted red-brown matte)
-Primal (muted brown matte)
-Undone (deep smokey brown matte)

I must say that I do love the improved velvet-like texture of the mattes in the Basics 2
palette. It'd be outstanding if Urban Decay could remake the original to have the same
texture, especially seeing how they keep hiking up the price point with each release. The texture is great and the shades in both palettes blend well with other shadows, I find that the
Basics 2 palette is more of a sister palette, meaning it's shades are great for working with
other palettes. Don't get me wrong, it has worked well on its own. However, I feel that the
Original works alone (IMO) and on an everyday basis, as well as working well with other
palettes. In a nutshell, I find myself reaching for the original palette far more often.

I hope you found this review/ comparison helpful. What do you think? Which Urban Decay
Basics palette do you love? Comment and let me know, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

MAC: A Novel Romance

The MAC: A Novel Romance Collection was released online on August 14, 2014 and in stores
August 21, 2014. It was their Fall collection based on romance novels. I know a lot of people thought the theme of this collection funny or silly, but I quite like it. This is a Limited Edition collection, and I think it will be the last Limited Edition I cover. I just don't want to show you something that is either hard to find or altogether unavailable. Since I said I'd go in depth on my Youtube video in regards to these products, here we go!

Lipglasses ($15 USD/ 4.8g): Talk Sexy/ Bared For You
Lipsticks ($16 USD/ 3g): (clockwise from top left) Myself, Yield to Love, Hearts Aflame, Lingering Kiss

I had never tried MAC's Lipglasses before this collection for fear of them being too sticky.
They are sticky, but not to an uncomfortable level. The stickiness helps them last longer. They both lasted 3-4 hours on me before fading (over lipsticks/ lip liners). The shades I chose both left a considerable amount of glitter on my lips once they wore off. I chose Bared For You (Soft Rose Gold) and Talk Sexy (Dark Purple). I don't like wearing Bared For You on its own, however I was so glad I chose it when worn over nudes (particularly ones that didn't flatter me). Talk Sexy is lovely as well, and I love the gold glitter throughout it. Overall, I do like them and would purchase the Lipglasses in the future.

Lip Swatches

Top Left: Bared For You Lipglass (Soft Rose Gold)
Top Right: Talk Sexy (Dark Purple)
Middle Left: Myself (Soft Shimmery Nude Beige) - Lustre Finish
Middle Right: Yield to Love (Mid-tone Rose) - Cremesheen Finish/ Online Exclusive
Bottom Left: Hearts Aflame (Mid-tone Brick Red) - Matte Finish
Bottom Right: Lingering Kiss (Deep Plum Red) - Matte Finish

MAC's Fun Ending Blush ($22 USD) is described as a Soft Neutral Peach, and has a Satin Finish. It has 6g of product in standard MAC packaging. As shown in the swatch above, it deepens a bit once blended out on the skin. I love how fresh faced this made my cheeks look. It lasted well over 6 hours, I saw some fading just short of the 7 hour mark.

These Fluidline Eye Pencils ($16 USD) are a new MAC product, and are basically your standard fluidline in a retractable pencil form. At .28g in each pencil, it has a lot less product than the potted fluidline (which contains 3g for the same price). The shades are really what called me on this product. Earth Sign is described as a Deep Brown, only it has some Plum tones, IMO. Water Willow is described as a Deep Khaki Green, and I would agree with that description. However, when I swatched 2 more green liners in my collection, there was definitely some gunmetal coming through. I swatched Black Ivy (Moody Blooms Fluidline) as well, for reference. Black Ivy had a lot more Blue in it.

Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipsticks (Peony and Berry)

Too Faced recently came out with these Melted Long Wear Lipsticks. I can't believe I almost passed completely on these! They are Amazing!! Too Faced originally came out with 6 shades, but just added 4 more shades to this line! With 10 shades, there's definitely something for everyone. I'm almost certain there will be new shades in the future, too.

The packaging corresponds to the color of the Lipstick inside. It's not an exact representation, but its close enough for you to get an idea of what shade you are purchasing (if you only have access to these online, that is). They are in tube form, where you squeeze the product out and it is released through a sponge tip applicator (pictured below). It contains 0.40 fl. oz./12 ml of product, which is a lot more product than your average tube of lipstick contains. It retails for $22 USD, and is available at Too FacedULTASephora, and wherever Too Faced products are sold.

Melted Peony is described as a Dusty Rose, and Melted Berry is described as a Berry Red.
I would say that both of these descriptions are accurate. They both applied buttery smooth and made my lips look smooth as well. They aren't as long wearing as Too Faced claims them to be, but they wear off quite nicely. They both lasted an average of 3-4 hours on me. The consistency of these is so comfortable, I absolutely don't mind reapplying. Trust me, you won't either. And as I said before, I definitely want more!
I like them so much, I'm actually eyeing 2 more shades (Fig and Candy)!

MAC PlayLand: Red Balloon Lipstick

Hello, my BeautyRhodies!
I have been away some time and have missed you dearly!
I am back, and I'd like to talk about this beauty: MAC's Red Balloon Lipstick!
I have been loving this lipstick so much, I had to feature it on my first day back!
I have been meaning to blog about this baby for some time now. So, let's get right into it!

Red Balloon was released on April 15th, 2014 as part of MAC's Playland Collection.
It was described by MAC as a Hot Fuchsia Pink. I see it as a Deep Hot Pink with a nice splash of Red.

Red Balloon is an Amplified finish. For those of you not familiar with MAC's Amplified lipsticks,
they are intensely pigmented lipsticks with (in my experience) great wear time.

This lipstick lasted a good 5 hours on me before fading, and left behind a stain. It wore
comfortably and felt moisturizing. I definitely love this shade! It has an ability to look Red in
some lights, then Pink in others. I say get it while there is still a few left on Macy's.com!

Red Balloon (left) swatched next to Girl About Town (right).
You can see there is definitely plenty of Red in this Hot pink!

I found 3 shades in my collection that were similar and available at the Drug Store, woohoo!

(From Left to Right)
MAC-Red Balloon, E.L.F.-Rosy Go Round, Revlon-Sorbet, and Rimmel-As You Want Victoria

Do you have Red Balloon? Do you love it, Do you hate it?
Leave a comment down below and tell me what you think!
Is there anything you would like me to review?

Thanks so much for stopping by! I am so glad to be back and hope to hear from you!

Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm

Almay Color  + Care Liquid Lip Balm

Hi, my fellow BeautyRhodies! I'm back, and I'm coming to you with a recent drugstore fave of mine! It's these Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balms! These are not a new product, but they are fairly new to me. I stumbled upon these when my local Rite-Aid had a 40% off sale. I picked up Just Plum Good, which led to me picking up 7 more! They aren't the most pigmented lip balm by any means. They are all pretty sheer, but give your lips a nice tint of color while giving you such incredible moisture with no stickiness whatsoever. That, my friend, is what sold me on these. They are so comfortable on the lips, and I definitely feel like my lips are being nourished while wearing them. They are great for running errands, are super office appropriate, and just great for everyday use in general. They are so easy to just throw on and go! There is 0.24 Fl.Oz. in each tube, and they retail for approx. $5.99. There are a total of 10 shades to choose from. They are available wherever Almay products are sold, such as Drugstore.comULTA, and Rite-Aid.

Shades from Left to Right: Nudetrients, Rosy Lipped, Cantaloupe, Blooming Balm, Pink Pout, Lilac Love, Just Plum Good, Apple A Day

Lip Swatches
(I'm still working on my photography and lighting, so please bear with me. Thank you!)

Bare Lips (for reference)

Nudetrients

Rosy Lipped

Cantaloupe

Blooming Balm

Pink Pout

Lilac Love

Just Plum Good

Apple A Day

Have you tried any of these? If so, what are your thoughts? Do you have any favorite lip balms?
I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Maybelline Dream Pure BB 8 in 1 Beauty Balm Skin Clearing Perfector

Maybelline Dream Pure BB
8 in 1 Beauty Balm Skin Clearing Perfector
Light/Medium & Medium

(Left Side = Light/Medium, Right Side = Medium)

Maybelline Dream Pure BB 8 in 1 Beauty Balm Skin Clearing Perfector is Maybelline's new BB cream that has 2% Salicylic Acid. I saw this in my local CVS and decided to try it. I wasn't sure which shade to choose, so I picked up the Light/Medium and Medium shades. It comes in the traditional Dream Pure BB packaging with Blue lettering (the regular has Pink lettering) and contains 1.0 fl.oz. of product. I paid approximately $11 (U.S.D.- tax included), but prices vary. It is available in 5 shades.

Maybelline's Claims:
1: Clears Acne
2: Conceals Imperfections
3: Minimizes the Look of Pores
4: Reduces the Appearance of Redness
5: Adjusts to Skin Tone
6: Hydrates and Smoothes
7: Enhances and Clarifies the Skin
8: Is Oil-Free, with a Lightweight Feel

I have been testing this out for the past 5 days, and I think that this BB cream does just about all that it claims because of its ingredients. It helps clear and prevent acne due to the 2% Salicylic Acid, and minimizes the look of pores because it has Dimethicone in it. I dont believe it has any sunscreen in it, at least it doesn't state that it does on the packaging or on Maybelline.com

(Shade: Light/ Medium)

It is a sheer tint, so there is light coverage. It conceals ever so slightly and does reduce redness (which is something I appreciate). Now, I don't know that it adjusts to your skin tone, but it did give my skin a healthy and radiant appearance. Not a glow, but a healthy appearance. It's comfortable and definitely lightweight on the skin. This product is recommended for people with combination or acne-prone skin. I have combination skin with occasional breakouts. The directions are to start using it once a day, working your way up to 3 times a day or as needed. I found that once a day was enough for me. It lasted quite some time (approximately 7-9 hours) depending on what my daily activities consisted of. I don't usually wear makeup beyond 10-12 hrs. I have to mention that I did set my T-zone area with powder (because of my combination skin), so it may wear off sooner if you skip that step in your daily routine.

(Shade: Medium)

As far as the shade selection, there are only 5 shades. I think they should come out with at least 3 more shades in order to cater to a wider range of tones. The Light/Medium is a warm toned shade, but is not too yellow. The Medium was definitely a cool toned shade, but with a bit of a grey hue to it. The Light/ Medium is a pretty good match for my skin.

Overall, I like how this BB performed and how it made my skin look. I would repurchase it, and that says a lot given that my combination skin has not reacted or looked well in any other BB cream beside the Garnier Oily/Combo BB cream. It seems this is giving it some serious competition. If you have minor breakouts/combination skin, I definitely recommend this. If you have any severe acne/skin condition(s), I would recommend you consult your dermatologist before giving this a shot.

Have you tried this BB cream? Do you have a HG (Holy Grail) BB cream that you recommend?
I'd love to hear your thoughts!

MAC Proenza Schouler

MAC PROENZA SCHOULER

The MAC Proenza Schouler Collection was released on April 3rd, 2014 online and in MAC stores.
It is MAC's collaboration with Proenza Schouler's designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez.
This collection consists of 2 Eyeliners, 4 lipsticks, 2 Blushes, 2 Lip Liners, 4 Nail Polishes, 1 Blush Brush, 1 T-Shirt, and 1 Tote Bag.

I almost passed on this collection, but my eye kept wandering back to the Ocean City Blush. The more I saw it, the more I wanted it. It just reminded me of a beautiful sunset. I decided to go for it. As I was referring to blogs and YouTube videos for a little more insight into the rest of the collection, I kept thinking how lovely the Woodrose Lipstick looked. It came off as such a feminine and easy to wear nude. I added that to my list. I almost went for the Primrose Lipstick as well, but all the research I had done showed it applied too streaky for me.
Once I decided to get these 2 items, the Ocean City blush was sold out on MAC's website. Grr... I decided to check Nordstrom.com, saw they had it, and I went for it.. Then I received the dreaded email from Nordstrom that stated they were out of my blush. OMG! I will admit, I was not a happy gal. I then went to Macys.com for my last attempt at getting Ocean City in my life and on my face. Success! When it arrived, I most certainly did my little happy dance, lol. I wanted to wear these products for some time before I gave my final review on it. Here we go!

Proenza Schouler Blush Ombre
OCEAN CITY

This is Ocean City. MAC describes it as a Vivid Orange Ombre into Tan. It has 9 g of product in it and retails for $30 (U.S.D.). It has the Limited Edition Proenza Schouler Metallic Ombre packaging. It is a magnet for fingerprints. It's no longer available online, unless you go to Amazon or Ebay (FYI: If you decide to go to either of these sites, expect to pay way more than it's original sale price.) I'm not sure if it is still available in store, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. I have seen the Pink version of this blush (Sunset Beach) in stock online at Macy's.

I wore Ocean City from the day after I received it up until this point, non stop.
As shown in the swatches above it goes from Tan, to a Burnt Peach, to Coral. I absolutely love it. It
comes across on the skin with such a pretty sheen. It gives such a sun kissed, fresh, summery look to the face. Did I mention I love it?  As for staying power it lasted an average of 8-9 hours on me every time I used it. Ocean City received a few bad reviews due to having a film on the top of it that reduced its pigmentation significantly. It was reported to have to have the top layer scraped off with a cosmetic spatula in order to get to the actual blush. I would have to honestly say that this did occur with my Ocean City blush, but I don't mind because the result this blush gives is so beautiful. I know that some people think that for a $30 blush this should not occur, and I agree to some extent. However, I have seen this happen with many products before in blushes, bronzers, and eyeshadows ranging from drug store to high end brands. It happens.
Despite that tiny discrepancy, I think this blush is beautiful, long lasting, and (if you can get your hands on one) I definitely would recommend it.

Proenza Schouler Lipstick
WOODROSE (Lustre)

MAC's Woodrose Lipstick is described as a Light Pink with Beige. There is 3g of product, and retails for $22 (U.S.D) It has the Limited Edition Proenza Schouler Metallic Ombre Square packaging. It too is a magnet for fingerprints. This lipstick is still available (as well as the other 3 in this collection) at MAC CosmeticsNordstrom, and Macy's.

I would say that the color description MAC gave it is pretty accurate. It is very natural, feminine, and easy to wear with virtually anything. Definitely an everyday MLBB (My Lips But Better) shade. It has a Lustre finish, so your natural lip color will peek through if worn alone. It lasted an average of 2-3 hours on me. Lustre finishes tend to have the least wear-time, and are usually sheer but comfortable on the lips. I find MAC's Lustre line of lipsticks to be moisturizing, but there have been people who have found them to be drying. I like them very much, personally.

Did you pick up anything from this collection? I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions!
