Maybelline Dream Pure BB 8 in 1 Beauty Balm Skin Clearing Perfector

Maybelline Dream Pure BB
8 in 1 Beauty Balm Skin Clearing Perfector
Light/Medium & Medium

(Left Side = Light/Medium, Right Side = Medium)

Maybelline Dream Pure BB 8 in 1 Beauty Balm Skin Clearing Perfector is Maybelline's new BB cream that has 2% Salicylic Acid. I saw this in my local CVS and decided to try it. I wasn't sure which shade to choose, so I picked up the Light/Medium and Medium shades. It comes in the traditional Dream Pure BB packaging with Blue lettering (the regular has Pink lettering) and contains 1.0 fl.oz. of product. I paid approximately $11 (U.S.D.- tax included), but prices vary. It is available in 5 shades.

Maybelline's Claims:
1: Clears Acne
2: Conceals Imperfections
3: Minimizes the Look of Pores
4: Reduces the Appearance of Redness
5: Adjusts to Skin Tone
6: Hydrates and Smoothes
7: Enhances and Clarifies the Skin
8: Is Oil-Free, with a Lightweight Feel

I have been testing this out for the past 5 days, and I think that this BB cream does just about all that it claims because of its ingredients. It helps clear and prevent acne due to the 2% Salicylic Acid, and minimizes the look of pores because it has Dimethicone in it. I dont believe it has any sunscreen in it, at least it doesn't state that it does on the packaging or on Maybelline.com

(Shade: Light/ Medium)

It is a sheer tint, so there is light coverage. It conceals ever so slightly and does reduce redness (which is something I appreciate). Now, I don't know that it adjusts to your skin tone, but it did give my skin a healthy and radiant appearance. Not a glow, but a healthy appearance. It's comfortable and definitely lightweight on the skin. This product is recommended for people with combination or acne-prone skin. I have combination skin with occasional breakouts. The directions are to start using it once a day, working your way up to 3 times a day or as needed. I found that once a day was enough for me. It lasted quite some time (approximately 7-9 hours) depending on what my daily activities consisted of. I don't usually wear makeup beyond 10-12 hrs. I have to mention that I did set my T-zone area with powder (because of my combination skin), so it may wear off sooner if you skip that step in your daily routine.

(Shade: Medium)

As far as the shade selection, there are only 5 shades. I think they should come out with at least 3 more shades in order to cater to a wider range of tones. The Light/Medium is a warm toned shade, but is not too yellow. The Medium was definitely a cool toned shade, but with a bit of a grey hue to it. The Light/ Medium is a pretty good match for my skin.

Overall, I like how this BB performed and how it made my skin look. I would repurchase it, and that says a lot given that my combination skin has not reacted or looked well in any other BB cream beside the Garnier Oily/Combo BB cream. It seems this is giving it some serious competition. If you have minor breakouts/combination skin, I definitely recommend this. If you have any severe acne/skin condition(s), I would recommend you consult your dermatologist before giving this a shot.

Have you tried this BB cream? Do you have a HG (Holy Grail) BB cream that you recommend?
I'd love to hear your thoughts!

MAC Proenza Schouler

MAC PROENZA SCHOULER

The MAC Proenza Schouler Collection was released on April 3rd, 2014 online and in MAC stores.
It is MAC's collaboration with Proenza Schouler's designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez.
This collection consists of 2 Eyeliners, 4 lipsticks, 2 Blushes, 2 Lip Liners, 4 Nail Polishes, 1 Blush Brush, 1 T-Shirt, and 1 Tote Bag.

I almost passed on this collection, but my eye kept wandering back to the Ocean City Blush. The more I saw it, the more I wanted it. It just reminded me of a beautiful sunset. I decided to go for it. As I was referring to blogs and YouTube videos for a little more insight into the rest of the collection, I kept thinking how lovely the Woodrose Lipstick looked. It came off as such a feminine and easy to wear nude. I added that to my list. I almost went for the Primrose Lipstick as well, but all the research I had done showed it applied too streaky for me.
Once I decided to get these 2 items, the Ocean City blush was sold out on MAC's website. Grr... I decided to check Nordstrom.com, saw they had it, and I went for it.. Then I received the dreaded email from Nordstrom that stated they were out of my blush. OMG! I will admit, I was not a happy gal. I then went to Macys.com for my last attempt at getting Ocean City in my life and on my face. Success! When it arrived, I most certainly did my little happy dance, lol. I wanted to wear these products for some time before I gave my final review on it. Here we go!

Proenza Schouler Blush Ombre
OCEAN CITY

This is Ocean City. MAC describes it as a Vivid Orange Ombre into Tan. It has 9 g of product in it and retails for $30 (U.S.D.). It has the Limited Edition Proenza Schouler Metallic Ombre packaging. It is a magnet for fingerprints. It's no longer available online, unless you go to Amazon or Ebay (FYI: If you decide to go to either of these sites, expect to pay way more than it's original sale price.) I'm not sure if it is still available in store, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. I have seen the Pink version of this blush (Sunset Beach) in stock online at Macy's.

I wore Ocean City from the day after I received it up until this point, non stop.
As shown in the swatches above it goes from Tan, to a Burnt Peach, to Coral. I absolutely love it. It
comes across on the skin with such a pretty sheen. It gives such a sun kissed, fresh, summery look to the face. Did I mention I love it?  As for staying power it lasted an average of 8-9 hours on me every time I used it. Ocean City received a few bad reviews due to having a film on the top of it that reduced its pigmentation significantly. It was reported to have to have the top layer scraped off with a cosmetic spatula in order to get to the actual blush. I would have to honestly say that this did occur with my Ocean City blush, but I don't mind because the result this blush gives is so beautiful. I know that some people think that for a $30 blush this should not occur, and I agree to some extent. However, I have seen this happen with many products before in blushes, bronzers, and eyeshadows ranging from drug store to high end brands. It happens.
Despite that tiny discrepancy, I think this blush is beautiful, long lasting, and (if you can get your hands on one) I definitely would recommend it.

Proenza Schouler Lipstick
WOODROSE (Lustre)

MAC's Woodrose Lipstick is described as a Light Pink with Beige. There is 3g of product, and retails for $22 (U.S.D) It has the Limited Edition Proenza Schouler Metallic Ombre Square packaging. It too is a magnet for fingerprints. This lipstick is still available (as well as the other 3 in this collection) at MAC CosmeticsNordstrom, and Macy's.

I would say that the color description MAC gave it is pretty accurate. It is very natural, feminine, and easy to wear with virtually anything. Definitely an everyday MLBB (My Lips But Better) shade. It has a Lustre finish, so your natural lip color will peek through if worn alone. It lasted an average of 2-3 hours on me. Lustre finishes tend to have the least wear-time, and are usually sheer but comfortable on the lips. I find MAC's Lustre line of lipsticks to be moisturizing, but there have been people who have found them to be drying. I like them very much, personally.

Did you pick up anything from this collection? I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions!

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick

URBAN DECAY REVOLUTION LIPSTICK

Hello, my BeautyRhodies! Today's post is going to be on these Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks. I honestly Love these lipsticks! It started with that little sample in the middle. I received the sample (Shade: Anarchy) in one of my Ipsy Bags. I simply fell in love with the formula, even though Anarchy isn't a shade I would often wear. My first official purchase was of Rush and F-Bomb, then I picked up Naked, and most recently Gash. Yeah, it's safe to say that I'm obsessed!

Packaging is in a Gunmetal Tube that's lined with Purple. There is 2.8 grams of product in each tube, and they each weigh .09 oz. They are $22 (U.S.D.) and can be purchased at Urban DecayULTA, and wherever Urban Decay products are Sold.

Here's what Urban Decay says about them:
"Creamy Badass Luxury. Our Pigment Infusion System (TM) delivers insane color payoff with creamy shine. MaxiLip (TM) plumps and nourishing oils leave lips cushiony soft."

Here's what I say about them:
These lipsticks are definitely Creamy, Hydrating, Highly Pigmented, Fairly Long Lasting (Duration time varies with each shade), and so comfortable on the lips. There is NO Taste or Smell to them at all. They make my lips look so healthy and moisturized. I would recommend wearing a lip liner to maximize the wear time on them, as well as prevent bleeding.

(Note: The Lip Swatches below were all done without lip liner to showcase the true color.)

Urban Decay Ocho Loco 2 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil Set

Urban Decay Ocho Loco 2 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil Set

Hello, BeautyRhodies! This is Urban Decay's Ocho Loco 2 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil Set!
It originally retailed at $59, but is Now on Sale at Urban Decay for $39!
I love to use these as liners and bases. I also like to set them when I use them as liners with a corresponding or similar colored eye shadow. These liners are so soft, creamy, and comfortable on the eye. This set also comes with UD's Grindhouse, which is a sharpener for both small and larger pencils. It includes a little pick that helps get your pencils shavings out of the blade. I quite like that!
I would definitely recommend this set, especially considering that a single 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil is $20!

There are 8 full sized eye pencils in this set, which include 5 new shades! They are all water-proof, and (in my experience) smudge-proof once they set. You have some time to work with them before they set, in case you want to smudge or smoke them out. FYI: Mars, Deep End, Perversion, and Roach are the only ones in this set that are all Vegan.

Lets talk swatches! (From Top to Bottom) Tornado is a Dark Eggplant Pearl. Ultraviolet is a Bright Blue-Violet Shimmer. Mars is a Bright Metallic Green Shimmer. Deep End is a Bright Metallic Peacock Shimmer. Perversion is a Blackest Black Matte. Crave is a Deep Dark Brown Black Matte. Twice Baked is a Rich Brown Satin with Gold Micro-Sparkle. Roach is a Deep Copper Brown Shimmer.
