Maybelline Dream Pure BB
8 in 1 Beauty Balm Skin Clearing Perfector
Light/Medium & Medium
(Left Side = Light/Medium, Right Side = Medium)
Maybelline Dream Pure BB 8 in 1 Beauty Balm Skin Clearing Perfector is Maybelline's new BB cream that has 2% Salicylic Acid. I saw this in my local CVS and decided to try it. I wasn't sure which shade to choose, so I picked up the Light/Medium and Medium shades. It comes in the traditional Dream Pure BB packaging with Blue lettering (the regular has Pink lettering) and contains 1.0 fl.oz. of product. I paid approximately $11 (U.S.D.- tax included), but prices vary. It is available in 5 shades.
1: Clears Acne
2: Conceals Imperfections
3: Minimizes the Look of Pores
4: Reduces the Appearance of Redness
5: Adjusts to Skin Tone
6: Hydrates and Smoothes
7: Enhances and Clarifies the Skin
8: Is Oil-Free, with a Lightweight Feel
I have been testing this out for the past 5 days, and I think that this BB cream does just about all that it claims because of its ingredients. It helps clear and prevent acne due to the 2% Salicylic Acid, and minimizes the look of pores because it has Dimethicone in it. I dont believe it has any sunscreen in it, at least it doesn't state that it does on the packaging or on Maybelline.com.
(Shade: Light/ Medium)
It is a sheer tint, so there is light coverage. It conceals ever so slightly and does reduce redness (which is something I appreciate). Now, I don't know that it adjusts to your skin tone, but it did give my skin a healthy and radiant appearance. Not a glow, but a healthy appearance. It's comfortable and definitely lightweight on the skin. This product is recommended for people with combination or acne-prone skin. I have combination skin with occasional breakouts. The directions are to start using it once a day, working your way up to 3 times a day or as needed. I found that once a day was enough for me. It lasted quite some time (approximately 7-9 hours) depending on what my daily activities consisted of. I don't usually wear makeup beyond 10-12 hrs. I have to mention that I did set my T-zone area with powder (because of my combination skin), so it may wear off sooner if you skip that step in your daily routine.
As far as the shade selection, there are only 5 shades. I think they should come out with at least 3 more shades in order to cater to a wider range of tones. The Light/Medium is a warm toned shade, but is not too yellow. The Medium was definitely a cool toned shade, but with a bit of a grey hue to it. The Light/ Medium is a pretty good match for my skin.
Overall, I like how this BB performed and how it made my skin look. I would repurchase it, and that says a lot given that my combination skin has not reacted or looked well in any other BB cream beside the Garnier Oily/Combo BB cream. It seems this is giving it some serious competition. If you have minor breakouts/combination skin, I definitely recommend this. If you have any severe acne/skin condition(s), I would recommend you consult your dermatologist before giving this a shot.
Have you tried this BB cream? Do you have a HG (Holy Grail) BB cream that you recommend?
