MAC Proenza Schouler

MAC PROENZA SCHOULER

The MAC Proenza Schouler Collection was released on April 3rd, 2014 online and in MAC stores.
It is MAC's collaboration with Proenza Schouler's designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez.
This collection consists of 2 Eyeliners, 4 lipsticks, 2 Blushes, 2 Lip Liners, 4 Nail Polishes, 1 Blush Brush, 1 T-Shirt, and 1 Tote Bag.

I almost passed on this collection, but my eye kept wandering back to the Ocean City Blush. The more I saw it, the more I wanted it. It just reminded me of a beautiful sunset. I decided to go for it. As I was referring to blogs and YouTube videos for a little more insight into the rest of the collection, I kept thinking how lovely the Woodrose Lipstick looked. It came off as such a feminine and easy to wear nude. I added that to my list. I almost went for the Primrose Lipstick as well, but all the research I had done showed it applied too streaky for me.
Once I decided to get these 2 items, the Ocean City blush was sold out on MAC's website. Grr... I decided to check Nordstrom.com, saw they had it, and I went for it.. Then I received the dreaded email from Nordstrom that stated they were out of my blush. OMG! I will admit, I was not a happy gal. I then went to Macys.com for my last attempt at getting Ocean City in my life and on my face. Success! When it arrived, I most certainly did my little happy dance, lol. I wanted to wear these products for some time before I gave my final review on it. Here we go!

Proenza Schouler Blush Ombre
OCEAN CITY

This is Ocean City. MAC describes it as a Vivid Orange Ombre into Tan. It has 9 g of product in it and retails for $30 (U.S.D.). It has the Limited Edition Proenza Schouler Metallic Ombre packaging. It is a magnet for fingerprints. It's no longer available online, unless you go to Amazon or Ebay (FYI: If you decide to go to either of these sites, expect to pay way more than it's original sale price.) I'm not sure if it is still available in store, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. I have seen the Pink version of this blush (Sunset Beach) in stock online at Macy's.

I wore Ocean City from the day after I received it up until this point, non stop.
As shown in the swatches above it goes from Tan, to a Burnt Peach, to Coral. I absolutely love it. It
comes across on the skin with such a pretty sheen. It gives such a sun kissed, fresh, summery look to the face. Did I mention I love it?  As for staying power it lasted an average of 8-9 hours on me every time I used it. Ocean City received a few bad reviews due to having a film on the top of it that reduced its pigmentation significantly. It was reported to have to have the top layer scraped off with a cosmetic spatula in order to get to the actual blush. I would have to honestly say that this did occur with my Ocean City blush, but I don't mind because the result this blush gives is so beautiful. I know that some people think that for a $30 blush this should not occur, and I agree to some extent. However, I have seen this happen with many products before in blushes, bronzers, and eyeshadows ranging from drug store to high end brands. It happens.
Despite that tiny discrepancy, I think this blush is beautiful, long lasting, and (if you can get your hands on one) I definitely would recommend it.

Proenza Schouler Lipstick
WOODROSE (Lustre)

MAC's Woodrose Lipstick is described as a Light Pink with Beige. There is 3g of product, and retails for $22 (U.S.D) It has the Limited Edition Proenza Schouler Metallic Ombre Square packaging. It too is a magnet for fingerprints. This lipstick is still available (as well as the other 3 in this collection) at MAC CosmeticsNordstrom, and Macy's.

I would say that the color description MAC gave it is pretty accurate. It is very natural, feminine, and easy to wear with virtually anything. Definitely an everyday MLBB (My Lips But Better) shade. It has a Lustre finish, so your natural lip color will peek through if worn alone. It lasted an average of 2-3 hours on me. Lustre finishes tend to have the least wear-time, and are usually sheer but comfortable on the lips. I find MAC's Lustre line of lipsticks to be moisturizing, but there have been people who have found them to be drying. I like them very much, personally.

Did you pick up anything from this collection? I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions!
